Making New Friends

Here are friends I made while attending the film festival! Don’t they look stunning in their gowns?!

Cabo Withdrawal!

What I love most about traveling is meeting interesting people from different places. While I was in Cabo, I made friends who were not only from Mexico, but from America, Australia, Canada and Italy. Everyone was so friendly!

Cabo Dancing

For my St. Patrick’s Day celebration, I did the Harlem Shake through Cabo! Thanks a gazillion to the people at Dreams Resort, Billygan’s Beach Club, El Squid Roe, and Cabo Wabo for inviting me in.

Resort Season is Here!

If you want to enjoy the rays you might consider these beaches that are not just beautiful, but filled with personality. Waikiki (Oahu, Hawaii) Anything goes here, but not in a wild party sense. Waikiki is friendly to both families and singles. I’ve seen almost everything there from stand-up paddle yoga to beach acrobatics. One time a group of professional …

What’s Your Favorite Holiday Memory?

I love everything about the holidays…the decorations, caroling, and time spent with family and friends. A favorite holiday memory is dancing in Pacific Northwest Ballet’s Nutcracker. Each year while growing up, I had about forty performances filled with festive cheer and unexpected adventure. One that stands out was when it snowed so hard in Seattle that driving felt like going …

Sending Thanks to All of You on Thanksgiving

As I think about what I’m thankful for, all of you are high on my list. This past year I’ve received many wonderful emails, messages and comments from around the world. I especially appreciate all of your support at book signings. One that stands out was a university event in California. While I was traveling there, someone accidentally dropped a …

Shopping that Won’t Drain Your Bank Account

Retail therapy gives any shopping lover a natural high, but when your credit card takes a hit and post-spree depression sets in, that’s never worth it. Like many, I love to shop. I travel a lot for work and always enjoy checking out trends in new places. For those of us prone to this indulgence, there’s no need to abstain. …

And the Gold Medal for Hugging Goes To…

The U.S. Olympic women’s gymnastics team! According to The Wall Street Journal, during their first-place competition, our girls shared 55 individual hugs with teammates and coaches and five group hugs—more than any other team. They also freely hugged competitors who were feeling crestfallen after their performances, and those who had done well. Most of us can’t even walk on a …

Travel Makeup Video

Here Duncan Smith, a professional makeup artist, and I show how to look great anywhere on a trip with only eight small products. Duncan gave me a natural look, but you can go more dramatic just by using a deeper-colored travel palette. To film this video, my friend Brett brought in his Canon 5D and 7D so you can clearly …

Avoid Spring Break Botchers!

Spring break should be one of the high points of your year. With this ritual upon us, I want all of you who are still in school to have a fabulous time. In my college days, I noticed that friends either came back from spring break thrilled or thrashed. To avoid the latter, sidestep these three break botchers.  Just Chatting …

Romance Around the World!

I love Valentine’s Day:) You probably wouldn’t have guessed that though…I mean it’s not like I wrote an entire book about romance or anything (wink wink)! Since VDay falls on a workday, I’ve heard several people say that they’re having smaller celebrations then and planning future romantic getaways. Here are three destinations that skyrocket in the romantic ratings.  Rome’s Donna …

Bringing You Sights of the Season

I’m sending you all some Seattle holiday cheer! This past year, I’ve traveled a lot for work and really enjoyed meeting everyone who attended my book events. Now I’m enjoying the holidays with family and friends. I hope each of you is loving this festive time of year too!

How to Meet Men at Parties

With the holiday season heating up, parties abound. For many single girls, meeting appealing men is the icing on the cake of a great event. As many of you know, I spent four summers studying in Europe before writing The Single Girl’s Guide to Meeting European Men. Many Euro cities are known as party central so my girlfriends and I …
