I just received notice that But I Do won Best Music Video in Toronto! The film is the true story of someone who read my book, The Single Girl’s Guide to Meeting European Men, and used it on her trip to Europe. Big thanks to Steve Veale (pictured), festival director, and the 92 volunteers who helped me make it. I’ve been thinking back to all the fun we had, and how much people sacrificed, and thought you might like to know a little about it. A good example was the ballroom scene. The owner of the club let us use it after hours. Just before filming began, the fiancé of one of the principal dancers was killed in an accident. During filming, another dancer had a fever of 102 and I was pushing through the pain of a torn muscle. When we were done, the dancer suffering the loss said there was no place he’d rather be and many others said they were sad to see it end. I feel so fortunate to have such amazing friends.

Here is a red carpet pic before I attended my But I Do screening. I took my camera and filmed the fun craziness that went down during my trip for you all to see! When I’m done editing the footage, I’ll post the video.
My short, But I Do,was just chosen for opening weekend at Toronto Independent Film Festival…“A headline event for micro and no-budget films.” With our Milky Way candy bar budget, I’d say we fit that description:) This festival runs alongside TIFF, a star-studded extravaganza. If you’re going to be in the area on September 7th along with Kate Winslet, Colin Firth and Nicole Kidman, I’d love to see you at the Carlton Cinema. I’m in the 6-8PM slot.

At the Nordstrom Fall Sale, I found this leather jacket that’s the “hot new look.” As you can see, it’s almost identical to one I got when I was fourteen. I’ve worn it for over a decade, taken it all over the globe, and even used it in my travel makeup video. So hang on to old clothes that you love.

Shout out to those planning a Hawaiian getaway. On Thursday nights, Waikiki is packed with a line of tricked-out lowrider cyclists as far as the eye can see. This friendly group invites everyone to join them, from biking buffs to biking virgins! For more info, go to the Thursday Night Cruise site.

To me, summer never lasts long enough. Every day after work, I find the fun in each second of sunshine…boating, swimming, and surfing. Then I pack those balmy nights with dining, dancing and outdoor concerts. Before long, I completely tucker myself out. I was exhausted heading into a TV appearance. The circles under my eyes were so dark that I could have joined the raccoon family:) That’s when I became a huge fan of Yves Saint Laurent’s Touche Éclat…aka the “erase fatigue” miracle. I even took my picture in front of the YSL display to show you how well it works. So if you’re like me living it up this summer and want to look like you’ve gotten your beauty sleep, I’d wholeheartedly recommend it.

My grandma’s 89th birthday party was quite the extravaganza. Even though she recently had a stroke, she refused to let that dampen her celebration. She asked me to make cupcakes, do her makeup with extra bronzer so it looked like she had just been on vacation, and teach everyone at her rest home a wheelchair dance. She invited family, friends, and the hot, single, male ambulance-driver who rushed her to the hospital. She wanted to set him up with one of her cute caregivers:)

For many of us, summer officially began today! I travel a lot and even though this is what the calendar claims, the weather in certain places is begging to differ. I’ve fallen in love with the Ralph Lauren collection. As you can see, the line features brightly-colored pieces – from sundresses to sweaters – that look season appropriate. So with this line, no matter what the temperature is where you are, it will feel like summer.

After trying to invent Stand Up Paddle Ballet, I thought it might be a good idea to get in condition before my next attempt:) Don’t be deceived by our instructor (right). Angela may look tiny and adorable, but her fitness classes are known to make men who can bench press 200 pounds groan in pain! The cutie on the left is Byanka.

Stand up paddle yoga is all the rage. Since I’ve never done yoga, while I was in Hawaii, I decided to invent stand up paddle ballet. Mind you, I haven’t even danced ballet on dry ground in nine years, so I don’t know why I thought I could do it out on waves…but I figured I shouldn’t let a little thing like that stop me! I learned from this experience that there’s a reason why ocean ballet hasn’t become a fad—I spent more time falling in the water, than ballet-ing:)
