Back to Bainbridge
There is something so clandestine about taking the ferry to Bainbridge, an oasis of waterfront, boats, and plants. It’s as though I’m entering a bygone era. Even the plants blooming on the island look like heirlooms planted in gardens passed down through generations.
I love butterfly bushes. When people see this vegetation in bloom, some recognize oriental wonders while others only observe the progeny of noxious weeds. Scientifically speaking, both are correct, but I believe that in life if we look beyond negative implications we can find beauty.
As Drew Barrymore said, “I think happiness is what makes you pretty. Period. Happy people are beautiful. They become like a mirror and they reflect that happiness.”
I hope you are all seeing the beauty this summer.
