Glamour Ambassador Inspired by Meeting European Men!

Michelle

I love my readers! Here are excerpts from emails I received from one of them, Michelle Sanchez: “Love, love your book!” “Your book actually inspired me to get a job that would allow me the freedom to travel and low and behold I got a job in marketing/sales travel for an Australian company. So I will actually be spending a lot of time in Europe come the fall… I would love to see your book translated into film (it would make for some amazing eye candy for sure!).”

Michelle is a successful marketing and public relations manager, a brand ambassador for Glamour magazine, a journalist for LA Socialite Examiner, and a dedicated philanthropist—a woman after my own heart! And that is just during the day. At night, Michelle’s work takes her to the hottest parties and star-studded soirées. Her articles and columns cover the latest fashion, charity, and society events. Wow girl! When do you fit sleep into your schedule?! But there is more. This amazing woman is a founding member of The Four Pearls of the Beckstrand Cancer Foundation.

I am thankful for readers like Michelle who are helping make the world a better–and more entertaining–place! She said that I could reveal her name and use her picture for this post. If you’d like to share your story and responses to my book, I’d enjoy hearing from you too. Katherine@MeetingEuropeanMen.com

  1. Mary says:

Wowww! Michelle has a fun empowering job! Meeting Euro Men is a fun empowering book!

  2. Michelle Sanchez says:

I loved reading this book but most importantly I loved how it inspired me to pursue and land my dream job in luxury travel. Life is what you make of it!

  3. Jade says:

Most self help books are 98% fluff. Meeting European Men is 100% substance & entertainment. Michelle’s proof of how inspiring it is!!!

  4. Katie says:

How do I get either of your lives hahah? I love when I studied abroad in Florence and wish I had had these tips before hand. I graduate soon and would love to have the opportunity to travel as much as yall do!

  5. Michelle Sanchez says:

Hi Katie! Honestly I’ve always wanted a job working in luxury travel so even though my other jobs were not in that industry I was always working to achieve that goal either by networking or freelancing as a journalist for society events.

Have a goal and never lose focus and always network – it was my business relationships that I cultivated over the years that now have become personal friends that got me my current job in luxury travel marketing/sales.

  6. Katherine Chloé Cahoon says:

Katie, Michelle gave terrific advice! I’d also suggest that before you graduate, take classes in fields you love, and seek career guidance from your professors and guest speakers.

At Vanderbilt, I had an International Media and Management major. That gave me insights into European history and culture, which was critical in writing my book. I took an Intro to Screenwriting course because it interested me. I absolutely loved it! A Hollywood exec spoke to us and I happened to get his email. One night during my last semester at school, I came in from a date at 2AM and spontaneously decided to do something about the script I wrote for that class. I emailed the exec my logline. He emailed me right back! First, he asked me why I was up so late too:) Then he said that he loved my script concept, and he scheduled a meeting with me. From then on, he guided me in my career. That led to a meeting with a Warner Bros. producer who, as many of you know, urged me to take a little Euro tip book that girlfriends had asked me to write for their semesters abroad, and turn it into an actual book with stories, tips, hot spots, history and culture.

  7. Katie says:

Thanks for the advice! The classes I took abroad definitely made me realize I want a job where I can travel as well. I took an event planning class and a tourism class and realized I would love to host events at hotels. Im also doing an unpaid internship right now so I definitely agree its all about networking.

  8. Michelle Sanchez says:

Katie – feel free to contact me if you want to chat more – since I do a lot of charity work and cover a lot of society events I’ve developed some amazing relationships with certain hotels and their general managers as well as with event planning companies.

    Good luck to you!

  9. Sara says:

I’d like to see Glamour mag do a spread on Katherine’s book, blog + videos. It could have pics of her and some of that amazing eye candy Michelle describes in her email!! Hot!!! Maybe they could even model the latest euro fashions =)

  10. Katie says:

Michelle, Thank you. I will contact you tomorrow through an email i found on your LinkedIn!

  11. Betty says:

I love Sara’s idea! i’d love to see Michelle write the article!

  12. Michelle Sanchez says:

Ahahaha Betty and Sara you two are hilarious – and I agree I would love to see Glamour promote Katherine’s book… I’ll definitely make a suggestion 🙂

  13. Michelle Sanchez says:

Awesome Katie – looking forward to chatting with you – I will be on a plane for most of Thursday morning but I will check my emails the minute I land in Chicago.

  14. Taylor says:

This is EXACTLY how I felt after reading your book. It totally backed up all the reasons I have chosen to major in international relations. I am so inspired by people like you and Michelle Sanchez and hope I can accomplish HALF as much as you guys have in my life! It is my dream!! Loved hearing about all the awesome things Michelle is doing, and as usual…loved your post! 🙂

  15. Betty says:

THX Michelle!:) I seriously hope you can write the article 🙂 you and Katherine are awesome!

  16. Julie says:

I LOVE Sara’s idea above about a Glamour Magazine feature! Your book was wonderful, Katherine. And having met you in person, it’s not just your book that sparkles, you do too! Would love to read more about you, your book, and what else you’ve been working on!

  17. Renee says:

I just bought your book on my Kindle and started reading it this morning. I should get this for my daughter!

  18. Renee says:

In fact the more I think about it, I would love to see a challenge on Project Runway where the contestants have to design clothes that a single girl would wear on her trip to Europe, based on your book “Meeting European Men” and see the whole thing covered in Glamour Magazine!

  19. Mary says:

LOVE Sara’s & Renee’s thought on a KCC Glamour Mag spread. Katherine u r gorgeous. You look like movie star in your videos & photos you post look like they’re from magazines!!!

  20. Katherine Chloé Cahoon says:

I love the way people on my site support and inspire each other! I appreciate all the nice comments and, of course, I’d love to do anything for Glamour…especially if Michelle were involved.

  21. Louise says:

I love that your book has inspired so many young women to take the leap and incorporate travel into their lives! It gives such a fresh take on the whole experience and definitely is more a story of empowerment rather than boys! I second (third?) the request for Glamour & Michelle to do a spread inspired by the book! Maybe a guide for American girls based on European trends this fall? (I would love this since I’m going abroad this fall myself!!)
