Episode Three

Thank you so much for your amazing comments and emails! Your thoughtful analyses of what should happen in the characters’ lives are impressive. The producers I’ve worked with on this project are all men in their 30’s to 60’s. I respect them. They’ve had some mega-hits, but there is quite a difference between their concepts of what girls want and yours. As you will see in this video, I incorporated many of your suggestions.

  1. jordankean says:

I love the idea of Plain Jane having a romance with Professor Hotstuff! I think he should walk up to her on the dance floor and ask her to dance. They should leave it at that for the night. Then the next time they are in class, it would be cute if Plain Jane felt embarrassed and flustered that she danced with her teacher, but then after class Professor Hotstuff could pull her aside and ask her to go get coffee or something. Then the rest is history 🙂

  2. Holly B says:

I definitely think that Jane’s romance should be with her young, hot professor! I don’t know how realistic it would be for the Professor Hotstuff to hit on one of his students in front of their classmates. He should take her by surprise and ask her out later! I think Jane would be nervous at first, but that they would turn out to be a perfect match. I definitely want to see Bell get jealous of the attention! Presley’s date turned out to be so romantic-can’t wait to hear more!

  3. abigailkim019 says:

Jane should keep her confidence streak going and pull her professor out onto the dance floor with her! Some shameless dancing could be just the spark she needs to capture her professor’s attention.

  4. abigailkim019 says:

I love the Sexcapader’s fearless attitude! I don’t think I would ever have the guts to convince someone as nervous as Hyme to pull through with the deed but, nevertheless, the Sexcapader achieved victory!

  5. Maria says:

OMG this section was hilarious! i like how you wrote it with the Sexcapader’s funny antics in contrast with Presley’s romantic date. And then Plain Jane…”How much do shots cost for pretty girls?” Classic line. Lovin her spunk!

Re Jane and Hotstuff there should be a romance. I don’t think it’s realistic for him to ask her out right away tho since he is her professor. He could get fired. What if he gallantly came to her rescue somehow and that started a secret romance? One of my fave stories in your book is when you met that Italian rock star and you’re at that festival that gets a real crazy. He’s your protector. Somehow the prof should swoop in and protect Jane against something out of her control. Would give an opportunity for sparks to build.

  6. tinaofleon says:

I loved this installment, Katherine! Love the idea of Jane and Hotstuff. I think at the club, Jane should do something silly or get into some type of guy trouble. Then Hotstuff should come to her rescue. Jane could be flirty and confident, since she’s been drinking, but I don’t think anything should happen yet. In class, sober, Jane would be flustered and embarrassed. Then somehow their relationship should blossom! Maybe at a coffee shop, and he could come up to her and be like “It seems we are always running into each other while we’re out for a drink. Do you mind if I join you?”.

  7. Katie says:

I think that the romance between Jane and Professor should definitely happen. He should try to ask her the dance, But since she has many other suitors maybe he doesnt get her full attention and ask her out again the next weekend.

  8. Sara Sampson says:

Love this section! I like Holly’s point, the prof wouldn’t hit on Jane in front of classmates. Agree with Maria. Prof should gallantly come to Jane rescue somehow. I’d like to see the interest between them build over time before he makes a romantic gesture. He’s her prof and probably worried about his job if he starts a romance with a student. His attraction to Jane should build over time until he can’t take it anymore. That’s when he comes to her rescue. Romance then is inevitable. A knight in shining armor can’t save a damsel in distress without falling for her.

  9. Alyssa says:

I love Plain Jane and Professor Hotstuff!! I want to see her being the bold one in this situation. Every girl wants to be bold enough to peruse the man she desires and in this situation because it is Plain Jane she needs to step out of her comfort zone and be bold. I would love to be able to use a confidence streak to really so something like that. The dance floor is a great place to start, just a dance, that doesn’t mean anything. Its harmless and she could thrive off it and be able to tell if Professor Hotstuff is into her too! And if not, then it was just one harmless dance. She can leave it to him to make the next move or she can ask him out on a real date at the end of her dance depending on how she feels. I would love to see Plain Janes confidence shine through, its inspiring!

  10. abbymself says:

What girl doesn’t at some point in her life imagine dating a young, hot professor? Of course Plain Jane should get to experience the romance with Professor Hotstuff! I like Tina’s idea of Professor Hotstuff coming to her rescue. And I also agree with Holly – drama with Bell would be icing on the cake!

  11. Taylor Tennison says:

I am loving all of these installments! And I DEFINITELY think the idea of Plain Jane and Professor Hotstuff having a fling is SO great…especially since she’s just your average girl, traveling without any really romantic expectations–this is the perfect twist in her story! I definitely agree that he shouldn’t hit on her in front of her classmates–I think it needs to be a bit more “random” than that. Maybe they run into each other at a bar/club, and recognize each other…start talking, somewhat professionally as professor/student, then things go from there? Then go from there? But also the idea of Professor Hotstuff “coming to her rescue” like Tina said is a great idea. I can’t wait to hear what you come up with, Katherine!

  12. gab0429 says:

I think that Jane should definitely have a romance with Professor Hott Stuff! It is many girls’ secret fantasy to have a secret romance with a hott professor. It makes it so much better that she did so during an exchange program. It would be adorable if he could tease her during class by giving her more attention than other students without letting his feelings for Jane show too obviously. I think that some innocent flirting in public with a private passionate romance would really spice up Jane’s love life.

  13. BR says:

Right away I think that this relationship should remain classy because of the given circumstance. I like the idea that they both remain out of a relationship or the dating scene. I think it shows that she has integrity and that she is a classy women. I like the idea that he saves her in some way or maybe they bump into each other on the street.

  14. neenapack says:

I think the tension between Jane and her professor should build up throughout the semester. It would be interesting to see them get into debates in class, or have the same opinion on some things. It would be fun to see how that plays out through the semester. Ultimately, I think the Professor should save Jane from a sticky situation regarding the law. Maybe Jane makes an error based on cultural differences. For example, she is at dinner and doesn’t count out her money right and ends up short. The waiter is angry and yelling in another language. Her prof steps in pays the waiter and escorts Jane out. From there maybe they go for a stroll through the city etc. although Jane has newfound confidence, I don’t think it’s enough to make the first move.

  15. kmk17 says:

The romance between Jane and her professor should definitely come, but take some time to build the tension and anticipation. Some funny and charged moments in class would make a great story. Plus, with Jane’s new confidence, she has some time to play the field a bit and then take action on her feelings for the professor.

  16. kmk17 says:

Pierre and Presley’s date was PERFECT!!! Just like a fairytale.

  17. Nicole says:

I think Gabbi’s idea sounds interesting!

  18. ruthellen16 says:

I was pleased to see Jane hit the dancefloor with spunk. It’s empowering to see an average girl causing a stir! I’m all for Jane and the Prof being an item. My first impression was to make Jane bold. She should make the first move with the prof. After thinking about it and reading other comments I believe BR is right. Jane may be a strong woman but she’s got class. Have Jane and the prof want to date but hold off. I do want them to get together but at the right time!

  19. DyAnn Cooper says:

I like Taylor’s ideas–I think their relationship definitely needs to be “random” and “unplanned. Can’t wait to hear what you come up with!

  20. Rhonda says:

I’m with Taylor too: random and unplanned! They should run into each other somewhere.

  21. madsmac says:

I think it would be super steamy if Plain Jane initiates the first move with Professor Hotstuff AFTER they have already realized there is sexual tension between them. Maybe she goes to Professor Hotstuff to ask for help on an assignment, but somehow they end up talking for a while and they are both secretly surprised about the natural chemistry between them. After she thinks about him non stop for a while, she should definitely make the first move and surprise herself!
