Pillow Talk Series

Are you a smooth operator when it comes to dating? Or, are you the queen of mishaps? I’d like to say that I’m the former, but the truth is that there’ve been plenty of times when I wished for a dating do-over.

With college girls getting ready to go back to school, I was thinking about one of my funniest mishaps back in the day. Here goes the confession: I met this guy at a theme party. He seemed cute, but then again it was pretty dark, so “cute” was a relative term considering his features were a bit in the shadows. He was definitely fun though, and that’s what counted, so we set a date.

Here’s the problem: I lived in a place where an available parking space was nearly impossible to find. Because of that, he picked me in the loading zone. The bigger problem? When I approached the curb, two cars were parked there with two guys of the same height and build standing by them. I didn’t have the slightest idea which one was my date. As I looked from one to the other, I hoped for some sort of sign, but they both smiled at me encouragingly.

So I took my best guess, approached one of them with all the conviction I could muster, and received a warm, welcoming hug.

As he began showing me to his car, I was confident that this was the guy. But then the other one blocked his path and asked him what he thought he was doing.

I quickly gave the second man a hug. But I have to admit that it was more than a little meager. You see, part of me wanted to run back to my room, order a full-size pizza, watch TV reruns, and forget about that whole dating business… But sometimes I can’t help wondering what the evening would have been like if I had seen it through with the first guy!

And if you’d like to settle down for a girl-chat break, here are more of my Pillow Talk videos.
